Following the conclusion of his loan on June 30, 2025, St. Louis CITY SC defender Jannes Horn will return to his parent club, 1. FC Nürnberg before his anticipated transfer to another European team.
Horn, who joined the club on loan last summer, made an immediate impact both on and off the pitch. While CITY SC held an option to extend his stay, Horn expressed a desire to return to Europe for family reasons and, out of respect for the player’s personal situation, the club agreed it would be best for Horn to return to Europe.
“We’ve truly enjoyed having Jannes as part of the CITY family for the last year,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He brought experience, versatility and a strong presence to our back line. We tried to keep Jannes but understand his situation and respect his desire to play in Europe. We wish Jannes nothing but the best moving forward and appreciate all he did for CITY SC during his time here.”
Horn has been a key contributor during his time in St. Louis, appearing in 18 matches and provided three assists. Horn will remain available for selection until his loan officially expires on June 30.
