Last Time Out

St. Louis CITY SC continued their historic unbeaten streak last week with a 3-0 road win against Red Bull New York at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Rafael Navarro opened the scoring for St. Louis in the fifth minute, helping the team to a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Late in the second half, Simon Becher and Tomáš Ostrák both found the back of the net to secure the 3-0 win. The victory marked the club’s first against the New York side and extended its unbeaten streak to 19 consecutive matches across all competitions.

Historic Unbeaten Run

After earning a road win against Red Bull New York last Wednesday, St. Louis are up to 17-straight games unbeaten in MLS play and 19 games in all competitions. CITY SC’s 19-match unbeaten streak across all competitions is the longest in club history. The run began with a 1-0 road victory over the Colorado Rapids on May 9 and has seen St. Louis climb from 14th place in the Western Conference standings to second place with 47 points. CITY SC boasts a 12-0-5 record in that stretch and has scored 39 goals, kept four clean sheets and conceded just 18 goals during the unbeaten run.

Simon Says Goal

Forward Simon Becher has emerged as one of the league’s hottest goalscorers since the return of MLS play following the World Cup break, scoring eight goals across 12 regular-season appearances. His eight goals during that span are tied for the second-most in MLS since league play resumed. Coming on as a substitute against Red Bull New York, Becher netted his ninth MLS regular-season goal in the 87th minute, marking his third in three matches across all competitions, including a goal in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals. Becher is tied for third on the team in assists with five.

St. Louis CITY SC vs. LA Galaxy

Since joining MLS in 2023, St. Louis CITY SC is unbeaten in seven all-time meetings against the LA Galaxy, posting a 3-0-4 record. In the match earlier this season, St. Louis earned a 3-1 win over the Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park, with goals from Lukas MacNaughton, Hartel and Simon Becher. Last season, CITY SC also earned a 3-0 road victory before playing to a 3-3 draw at Energizer Park in the return fixture. The series has consistently produced goals, with 28 goals across the seven meetings (4.0 per match).

STL x LA Galaxy Connections

St. Louis CITY SC head coach Yoann Damet previously served as an assistant coach with the Galaxy under Greg Vanney in 2022. Damet also spent time as the head coach of LA Galaxy II, where he worked alongside current CITY SC assistant coaches David Sauvry and Marcelo Sarvas. Sarvas and another CITY SC assistant coach Baggio Hušidić were teammates during their playing careers in Los Angeles.

The two clubs also share recent player connections. Galaxy forward João Klauss spent three seasons with St. Louis before joining LA ahead of the 2026 season. Defender John Nelson was part of CITY SC’s inaugural 2023 season and later joined the Galaxy in 2024.

Scouting LA Galaxy

The Galaxy sit in the final playoff spot in the Western Conference standings and are unbeaten in three games, recently earning close victories over Minnesota United FC and Colorado. Former CITY SC striker Klauss is tied for first with Marco Reus in goals with seven, with Reus also leading the team in assists with nine.
