Match Preview | St Louis CITY2 Aims for Fifth Consecutive Win in Clash Against The Town FC at Energizer Park

St Louis CITY2 aims to add to their four-match win streak as they take on The Town FC on Sunday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. CT from Energizer Park. The match will be streamed on mlsnextpro.com.

CITY2 earned a 3-2 comeback win last Sunday against Colorado Rapids 2 as they scored three goals in the final eleven minutes of the match. Rapids 2 opened the scoring in the first half, tallying two goals entering halftime. St Louis dominated play in the second half, outshooting Colorado with six shots on target compared to zero for the Rapids. Ryan Dugan found the back of the net for CITY2, scoring his first professional goal in the 86th minute. Emil Jääskeläinen tied the match in the fourth minute of stoppage time and captain Gabriel Mikina scored the game winner in the 97th minute, giving CITY2 three points.

For CITY2, the win was their fourth in a row, which marks their longest win streak this season. The win streak has lasted a month and CITY2 has scored 14 goals during that time, maintaining second place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings with 26 points. Sunday’s win saw Jääskeläinen score his second goal in consecutive matches and third of the season. Mikina’s goal was his second goal in 2025 and the second time he scored the game-winner for CITY2 this year.

Energizer Park has been a place of dominance for CITY2 this season as the team dropped one match back on April 6. The squad has only conceded five goals while playing at Energizer Park and has the best record at home in the Western Conference (4-1-1), picking up 14 out of 18 possible points.

The Town FC have not played since June 1 due to their June 8 match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 getting rescheduled. TTFC enter Sunday’s contest on a six-match unbeaten streak defeating LAFC2 twice, CITY2, Sporting KC II, and Colorado Rapids 2. The Town’s away record is 2-3-2 as they suffered defeats to Tacoma Defiance, Real Monarchs, and North Texas. TTFC have 15 different goal scorers that have contributed to the team’s 22 goals. Striker Nonso Adimabua, leads the team with five goals and two assists.
