St Louis CITY2 extended its winning streak to seven with a 3-1 victory over Real Monarchs on Sunday night at America First Field. Brendan McSorley opened the scoring, recording his fifth goal of the season in the 26th minute. Real Monarchs quickly equalized, and the teams went into halftime tied at 1-1. CITY2 reclaimed the lead in the 77th minute courtesy of a goal from Emil Jääskeläinen. Matteo Kidd secured the three points and win for St Louis, scoring his fourth goal of the season in the 82nd minute. With their seventh consecutive victory, CITY2 tied the MLS NEXT Pro record for the longest win streak, previously accomplished by Columbus Crew 2 and Crown Legacy FC. St Louis CITY2 now sits alone atop the MLS NEXT Pro overall standings with 35 points. The team travels south to face Austin FC II next Friday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. CT at Parmer Field.
